THURSDAY: KyCAD Seniors: Beige Price, Asia Jewell, Madison Boone, Carol Ann Raby, & Kerstin Imhoff are in the studio this week. Tune into Artists Talk with LVA.
THURSDAY: Artportal opens PORTALS: Art from the intervals of the Portal orbit, starting at 6 p.m. This exhibition showcases all the artists that call PORTAL + ARTPORTAL home. This will be followed by a concert featuring Pansy Division, Bev Rage and The Drinks, and Highway Eyes in the main music venue at 7:30 p.m.
THURSDAY: In conjunction with the LSA Reunion Show, Ed Hamilton, David Caudill, & Ken Reker are giving a gallery talk at Bourne-Schweitzer Gallery today from 5:30 to 6:30 pm.
FRIDAY: The 849 Gallery at KyCAD opens the Senior Thesis Showcase featuring Madison Boone, Kerstin Imhoff, Asia Jewell, Beige Price, & Carol Ann Raby. On View: May 15 - July 31, 2026, with an Opening Reception tonight from 5 - 7:30 pm. 849 S. 3rd Street, Louisville.
FRIDAY: QUILTS: Unconventional Kentucky Stitchwork at Outsider Art Museum & Gallery closes with a reception tonight from 5 to 8 pm.
FRIDAY-SATURDAY: Art Heist is back at KMAC. Interact with colorful characters, attend an artist talk, and – when the unthinkable happens, and an artwork is stolen – use your detective skills to determine the culprit! Tickets are available for May 15th AND May 16th, 6-9 pm.
SATURDAY/LVA Event: Alana Fitzgerald opens her collaborative installation, Another Forest, in the LVA Project Space, with a reception tonight from 6 - 8 pm.
SATURDAY: The Speed Art Museum opens Abstract Expressionists: The Women, Kentucky’s first exhibition devoted to Abstract Expressionism. This groundbreaking presentation celebrates the bold, innovative contributions of women who led the movement that transformed American art. There will be a guided tour today at 2 pm.
SATURDAY: Caroline Waite will discuss her new work on view at Kleinhelter Gallery beginning at 2 pm today. Seen, Not Seen continues until June 6.
SUNDAY: Today at 1 pm, Speed Museum presents Chris Reitz, Director of the Hite Institute of Art and Design, giving a lecture connected to the exhibition Abstract Expressionists: The Women Abstraction Reconsidered: Terms, Histories, and the Women who Shaped Them, FREE.
SUNDAY/LVA Event:There is a reception today for Middle School students in the Children’s Fine Art Classes (CFAC), from 2 - 3:30 pm at The LVA Gallery.

MaybeItsFate opened two new exhibitions for the summer: With Insects We Share the Same Light, curated by Clare Hirn, invites viewers to deepen their appreciation for insects — Earth's most diverse organisms and ecological cornerstone for over 350 million years — and to reflect on their critical role and increasing vulnerability in the Anthropocene era.
Conscious Collective: A Painter's View, curated by Aaron Lubrick, brings together a diverse group of artists united by their dedication to painting, exploring themes of shared humanity, interconnectedness, and optimism through deliberate, contemplative works that foster a sense of celebration and camaraderie within the broader community.
Joyce Garner: it's still spring , opens for viewing today at garner narrative, and a reception with the artist is scheduled for May 24 from 1-3 pm.

Bourne-Schweitzer Gallery opened The LSA Reunion Show, a special exhibition celebrating the legacy of the Louisville School of Art. Founded in 1909, LSA was Kentucky’s only four-year professional college of art, first located at the University of Louisville, then in Anchorage from 1969 to 1981, and finally at The Cloister in Louisville until 1985.
