LVA Outreach Camps
LVA’s Outreach Camps cultivate an enjoyable experience of learning, self-expression, and exploration of creativity by providing children from underserved populations the space to create art with-in a variety of week-long workshops. Our camps combine hand-on-art experiences, history, environment, focus, wondrous, serious and practical learning experiences. Projects are tailored to meet specific needs of each camp and serve to enrich not only the individual participants, but the community as a whole.
These camps are scholarship based and cost free for all children participating. They are available to children through recommendations. Educators, community leaders, and artists can recommend up to two (2) students per camp. Some camps will require an admissions application essay or video which will be juried, other camp placement is on a first-come, first-served basis. Camp sizes are limited to 15 students each.

Waterfront Park and Louisville Visual Art are proud to offer the 5th Annual Waterfront Park LVA Juneteenth Camp to you and your students. This weeklong summer day camp (for ages 7 to 12) is available to students from the Zones of Hope and will take place 9:30 am-4:00 pm June 10-14. Campers will be introduced to the works and history of Ed Hamilton, Muhammad Ali, the Underground Railroad, and more enriching information relating to Juneteenth and our city of Louisville. After learning this extraordinary history, campers will then create their own sculptures, collages, miniature landscapes, and paintings to express themselves and their newfound knowledge. Explanations of their art will be practiced throughout the week to prepare for their very own celebrational art exhibit at the end of the camp.

Candid Kids - LVA Photography Camp
Date June 17th - 21st, 9am to 12pm
Location: LVA Offices, 1538 Lytle St., Louisville, KY 40203
Candid Kids provides an opportunity for the students to learn the basics of photography by exploring various types of image-making. This weeklong summer day camp (for ages 7 to 12) is available to students from the Zones of Hope and will take place 9:30 am-12 pm June 17-21. Students begin the summer creating cyanotypes and move on to digital cameras. Students will discover new talents, gain confidence, learn to collaborate with classmates, and develop their own creative voice. The project culminates in an exhibition and a publication of their work.
