• Children's Fine Art Classes - The Children’s Fine Art Classes program engages and inspires the next generation of creative leaders by providing intensive, in-depth art experiences to visually talented and motivated elementary and middle school students, grades 4 through 8. Since 1925, the program has offered concentrated studies in two-dimensional art that include studio practices in drawing, painting, and mixed media; art history; critiquing skills; and aesthetics. Each student is provided a scholarship to attend so that economic status will play no part in a child’s participation or placement. LVA does ask for an administration fee, but if a student is on Free and Reduced Lunch, they may waive that fee. Students need to be recommended into this program by an educator, a principal, a community leader, someone of authority who knows of the student’s talents, like you. Here is the recommendation link, this is all done online, no need for recommendation letters. Once a student is recommended, they do not need any other recommendations. Also, a recommendation does not mean the students are entered into the program, parents/guardians still need to register their students each semester this wish to attend.

CFAC classes are held after school or Saturday mornings. We run classes during each school semester. Classes are 2 hours each week, one class a week for 8 to 10 weeks. Teachers are professional artists and or art teachers. We have classes all over the area, currently because of COVID19 we have reduced class sizes and some schools have restricted access, masks are required. We are also offering Virtual CFAC during this time.

Send in your recommendations now, we will be putting the new Spring 2022 semester schedule and registration information out in mid-November (using recommendations for this mailing). Registration starts the beginning of December, and classes start for Spring 2022 the week of January 17th. Contact LVA Education Director, Annette Cable annette@louisvillevisualart.org

The Academy of LVA – LVA’s art program for high school students under the umbrella of the Children’s Fine Art Classes program. When preparing the curriculum for The Academy, LVA looked at the National Core Art Standards and also had conversations with the top art universities around the country to ensure our Academy students would exceed their expectations. When asked what they were looking for in applicants, their answer was consistent across the board: "We want students who go beyond exhibiting technical skill and talent. Applicants should have both a style and voice unifying their work and should be able to discuss their work conceptually." By completing junior and senior level classes with The Academy, students should be a top choice candidate for universities and arts schools around the country. The Academy is a tuition-based program, need based scholarships are available.
