Recommend talented, motivated art students to attend the LVA Art of Chess Camp.
Whether you’re working out a complicated chess move or painting an abstract work of art, both sides of your brain will get a work out at LVA’s arty chess camp!
Hello Art Teachers, Math Teachers, Gifted and Talented Teachers and Principals,
Louisville Visual Art is happy to announce The LVA Art of Chess Camp, a unique summer opportunity for talented, motivated art, gifted and talented, and math students. This free educational summer camp serves West End area youth, ages 7 to 12. To be eligible for participation, campers must be recommended by a Math Teacher, Art Teacher, a Gifted and Talented Teacher or Principal familiar with their character and capabilities. We look forward to enrolling young artists and math students who show exceptional promise and who are performing above grade level in visual art and/or math.

• No charge for accepted participants
• Location: Louisville Visual Art, 1538 Lytle St., Louisville, KY 40203
• Dates: July 24 through 28, 9:00am to 4:00pm
• Art instruction and materials provided by Louisville Visual Art
• Chess instruction and play provided by Corbin Seavers of West Louisville Chess Club • Camp size limited to 16 students
• Covid19 protocol – we are following CDC guidelines
PROJECTS and ACTIVITIES:
• Learning to play chess and chess strategies • Studying the history of chess and the chess board/set • Creating their own chess set, board and container • Making chess art-centric projects • Playing chess with other campers and Corbin Seavers
Please use this link to recommend students for participation. After reviewing recommendations, we will send registration information to the parents/guardians of the students selected. Authorized adults will then register their students to finalize the process.
