St Joseph Children’s Home Art Program

Creative Healing Through Art

With support from the Cralle Foundation, Louisville Visual Art is proud to continue its partnership with St. Joseph’s Children’s Home through a therapeutic visual art program for youth in residential care.

Led by Janet Britt, an experienced art therapist and educator, the program offers a structured, trauma-informed creative space where students can express themselves, build confidence, and connect with others through art.

Weekly classes combine high-quality art instruction with opportunities for self-reflection, emotional expression, and collaboration. Projects may include mixed-media self-portraits, group artworks, and other hands-on experiences that encourage creativity, communication, and personal growth.

At the end of the program year, students’ artwork is celebrated through a culminating exhibition, offering participants a meaningful opportunity to take pride in their work and be recognized for their creativity and resilience.

Now entering its tenth year, this partnership reflects LVA’s belief in the power of art to support healing, belonging, and growth for young people in our community.
