The Future Is Now Application Summer 2019

The Future Is Now will be offered this summer as an eight-week program from end-May through mid-July at KyCAD.  Students who will be in high school for fall 2019 and are interested in pursuing visual art as a career will have the opportunity to be matched with a local artist mentor to learn about new artistic processes, portfolio building, exhibition design, installation, marketing, and what it takes to be a professional artist. Their journey will culminate in an exhibition at the 849 Gallery at KyCAD.

Requirements for Application:

  • Complete the application form (via LVA website, below)

  • A minimum of 3-6 works of art (to be emailed as jpegs to at the time of submitting application, and also to be brought to interview)

  • 2 letters of recommendation from an art teacher or a person who can credit your skill as a visual artist (to be emailed directly from the recommender to at the time of submitting application).

  • Interviews: Week of TBD

  • Student Notification: TBD

  • TFIN will meet as a group once a week in the evenings for two hours during the eight-week session.

  • Students and mentors will also meet individually outside of the primary class sessions.

Louisville Visual Art documents programming for promotional use year-round. Photographs and videotape may be taken to be used in brochures, seasonal program guides, public event displays, department program videos, or other uses. Parents must give permission to photograph or videotape participating children or yourself while participating in various activities. Students must be able to attend the interview session to participate unless they have explicit written permission.
