LVA Summer Camp Policies
We have three different sites for our 2018 camps. Most camps are held in our new 3rd floor classroom at the Clifton Center, 2117 Payne Street, Room 301, Louisville, KY 40206 from 9:00am-4:00pm each day with the option of purchasing extended hours for 8:00am-5:00pm unless otherwise stated.
Yew Dell: Art In Nature” will meet at Yew Dell Botanical Gardens, 6220 Old Lagrange Rd, Crestwood, KY 40014. “Waterfront Adventures” will meet at the Waterfront Development Corporation, 129 E River Rd, Louisville, KY 40202 Please note we are unable to offer extended hours for our off-site camps at Yew Dell Botanical Gardens and Waterfront Development Corporation.
Our program combines creative art experiences with the fun and whimsy that is unique to summer camps. To teach the fundamentals of creative expression, we ensure each camper has a unique art experience tailored to their specific camp —from learning photography and digital art to writing and creating books, stop-motion videos, painting portraits and more! In the afternoons, students have the opportunity to explore the broader side of what visual art can offer — from using recycled materials to building robots to playing art-centric games that involve collaboration and teamwork.
Space is limited and advance payment is required for all camps. Missed sessions are non-transferable to another date, and no partial refund is given for absence. In the event of extreme circumstances that prevent your child from attending camp, you may request a cancellation with the following schedule:
- Cancellations received on or before May 15 - refunded 90%
- Cancellations received after May 15 but on or before June 1 - refunded 75%
- Cancellations received after June 1 but on or before two weeks prior to session start date - refunded 25%
- Cancellations received within two weeks of the camp starting - refunded 0%
WHAT TO BRING
Each camper should bring a lunch for each session as well as a snack and water bottle. We do not provide lunches nor are we able to refrigerate or microwave lunches and snacks.
Please be considerate of any food allergies other campers may have.
Most of our camps spend lunch hour outside, so campers should wear comfortable shoes for outdoor activities. We do find shady spots during this time, but considering sending sunscreen with your child.
Since we will be getting messy, be sure to dress for it!
WHAT NOT TO BRING
Electronics, toys, and other personal items must be left at home.
Please note that LVA staff cannot be held responsible for any loss, destruction, or theft of any personal item your child may bring to camp.
Cell phones and electronics may not be brought out during class, and we strongly discourage them from being brought to camp.
Campers must be accompanied into our classroom and checked in with our summer camp coordinator. You will need to initial the roster and list the pick-up person for that afternoon daily.
The designated pick-up person must come into the classroom and show their ID to initial each child out with our summer camp coordinator at the end of the day. Any person picking up a child must show their ID — no exceptions.
During extended hours, students will have the opportunity to play games, free draw etc., but there is no programming during this time.
A $2.00 per-minute late fee will be charged for every camper picked up after the published end time of their registration. The end time for regular registration is 4pm, and the end time for extended care is 5pm.
We expect all students to be in camp on time every day. Please alert LVA if your student will be absent by calling (502) 584-8166. If your child is ill, contagious and/or running a fever, please DO NOT bring them to camp.
Any personal items brought to camp are the responsibility of your child. The staff assumes no responsibility for these items. Please make sure to label all of your children's items with their name.
No profanity, bullying, disrespectfulness or misbehavior will be tolerated. Students will be given one warning, after which the parents will be notified as well. If behavior continues after this warning, students can be dismissed with no refund.
