Garden pavilion project with Norton Foundation (2012) at YouthBuild with artist Leticia

YouthBuild, a national organization that serves undereducated and underemployed young adults, has joined with LVAA’s Open Doors to create a public art project on YouthBuild’s Louisville campus. Artist Leticia Bajuyo has secured additional grant funding from Hanover college to add to the Norton Foundation’s initial funding. Continuing work with 8 African and African American YouthBuild students, the group will construct a sculpture that they had designed together in the Fall. From the prototypical structure, the final installation will include a four part outdoor shade structure with growing vines that draws from Romanesque Architecture, all approved by Architect Chris Bowling. This series of metal structures will be placed near the facility’s community raised bed gardens in the late-Spring.
