Design at YouthBuild with Leticia Bajuyo

YouthBuild, a national organization that serves undereducated and underemployed young adults, has joined with Open Doors to create a public art project on YouthBuild’s Louisville campus. Artist Leticia Bajuyo worked with 8 African and African American YouthBuild students to design and construct a prototypical structure, a model started over a two-day sixteen hour design charette in October. The final installation will include an outdoor shade structure with growing vines that draws from Romanesque Architecture. This transformation will turn a currently barren, uninviting industrial site into an inhabitable, pleasant space.
