Quilt-her-story at Maryhurst with artist Mary Yates

In fall of 2010 LVAA’s Open Doors began a collaborative quilt project with the Maryhurst, an organization which shelters and rehabilitates at-risk children and youth. This multi-media project combined photography, storytelling and fabric works into a collaborative quilt piece. Each student created a small quilt for her personal panel that will be integrated into a larger quilt format. The project produced one assembled quilt that will travel on behalf of Maryhurst for fund development and other community events for the Girl’s Home. Students also presented their Quiltherstory creations to the Board of Directors members of both Maryhurst and LVAA during a special reception which also included community leaders and educators.
