BANG Perma-sculpture Project with the Center for Neighborhoods, Open Doors 

Program of the Louisville Visual Art Association, Portland Promise Center, Neighborhood House

During the summer of 2011, youth living in the Portland neighborhood will be creating permaculture inspired sculptural installations along the Portland Avenue corridor, between 18th and 22nd streets.  The project is being facilitated through a collaborative partnership between Center For Neighborhoods’ PAINT program, the Portland Promise Center’s youth group, the Louisville Visual Art Association’s Open Doors Program, and Grasshoppers Food Distribution Service.  Approximately 15 youth will work to beautify the Portland Avenue corridor, designing and installing their own “perma-sculpture” environment.
