What do you hope your students take away from your class?

Two of my favorite quotes are: “In order to be irreplaceable, one must always be different.”-Coco Chanel and “Drawing is exercise for a restless imagination.”-Tim Burton. These two quotes are an inspiration for all my art class projects. I love to see students embrace their limitless and unique imaginations. I hope after every semester, students walk out the door with an even stronger love for art, color, texture, imagination, and creativity.

What is your favorite thing to teach and why?

My favorite thing to teach is mixed media art with various layers of texture. I love showing students all the textures and patterns they can create with various stencils, fabrics, ribbons, and paper. Texture can be found in many things, and it is so neat to see how each and every student creates texture when drawing people, fashion, flowers, vegetables, fruits, etc. I enjoy seeing each student’s imagination come alive in every project!
