Kroger FAQ

How do I apply?

Go online to louisvillevisualart.org/kroger and submit the application. It’s short and sweet!

Do I have to upload images?

Images are not required if a website is provided. Uploading images is beneficial if your website has a breadth of work and you would like to specifically show the style you are interested in focusing on for the mural or if you have past mural work you would like to highlight.

Do I have to create a sketch?

Absolutely not— artists who are asked to create a proposal will paid to create sketches for the project. You should only attach a sketch if you feel like the committee would have a hard time understanding how your work would translate to a mural and you would like to include additional material— it is 100% optional.

When do I find out if I got it?

Artist will receive an email between 5-10 business days after the call to artists is closed.

Do you get paid to create a proposal?

What makes a proposal strong/successful?

  • Having clear and well lit images of your work or a website that shows your style and previous work is key.
  • Researching the community and it history to include in your proposal
  • Well written narrative including the historical elements (story/places) sites of that community.
  • Any ties you might have to that neighborhood.
  • Working with the community in some capacity.

Should I include a Kroger store in the mural?

I didn’t get it, should I apply again?

How often do you have a call for applications?

All of our mural calls are based on the renovation or building of a new Kroger. We will put out calls regularly and also have lists of upcoming murals on our website.
