Emmy Houweling is a self-taught Primitive Folk Artist who resides and works out of her historic 1820's home in New Castle, KY. Inspired by an 18th century Dutch itinerant folk artist, she has been creating art throughout her entire life and began working with paint 30 years ago. From working farms and weathered barns to familiar buildings that lay sideways, each painting tells her story with movement and accomplishment. They represent common people, performing life's everyday tasks, with whimsical animals grazing and working the lands on which they are so lovingly featured. Emmy has exhibited her works extensively and accepts commissioned work to paint local farms and homes. She is a professionally affiliated member of many of the Arts and Craftsmen Guilds and participates, year round in many Juried Art Fairs and exhibits in Kentucky, Indiana, Georgia, Ohio, Illinois, and Alabama. Many of her creations have traveled across the United States, and to England, Australia, France, Germany, Romania, The Netherlands and Greece. She also takes time to teach children's art classes out of her home studio.
