LVAA teams up with Grasshoppers Distribution!
The Louisville Visual Arts Association (LVAA), in conjunction with Grasshoppers Distribution, will host a Buy Local First Fair Thursday, October 8, 2009, from 5-8 pm, as part of LVAA’s Buy.Local.Art exhibition. The evening will host a variety of local independent businesses, and aims to serve the purpose of connecting the patrons of local agriculture and local arts in a celebration of Louisville’s vast selection of unique, homegrown agriculture, retail, service industry, and arts and culture offerings.
Local music provided by Thomas A. Minor and the Picket Line.
Local vendors include: Community Farm Alliance, Dolce, Kentucky Bison Company, Glass Dreams, Karate Body Records, Mama’s Hip, the Makery, Rainbow Blossom, Roobie Red Teas, Skull Alley, Sok Leather Works, Squallis Puppeteers, and more than a dozen Grasshopper Distribution producer farms.
Grasshoppers Distribution Company is the first in the region to offer exclusively local food—all coming from within Kentucky or southern Indiana. They are a farmer-controlled company that offers customers an authentic connection to the farms and farm life, in addition to the conveniences of centralized distribution. They also create opportunities for the small farms struggling to grow - and market - local food on their own. Grasshoppers will be accepting applications for their winter CSA at the Buy Local First Fair. Contact Lindsey Gibbs at 502-718-1881
