Donna Burden
Children's Fine Art Classes Instructor

Donna Burden received her BSED in Art Education and certification for K-12 at Appalachian State University in North Carolina. She received her MED in Secondary Education with an emphasis in ceramics from the University of Louisville. As an artist, she primarily dabbles in mixed-media art forms, but her first love is clay. She is entering into her 8th year of teaching art (3 years in North Carolina, 3.5 at New Albany High School, and half a year at Providence High School where she will return this year). Donna is monitor of the Art Club at Providence High School. She is a member of the National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts, The National Art Educator's Association, and the Art Education Association of Indiana. Donna coordinates an annual Empty Bowls Event in which all of the money raised goes to a local hunger coalition (in the past the money has gone to Meals On Wheels in New Albany). Through this event, the community has raised over $3000 to date. She will continue to organize this event with the help of the Providence Community. Donna is married to Brad, the school's Varsity Girls' Basketball coach.

"I came to Providence to be a part of a community atmosphere and to work in a disciplined environment with high standards for excellence in education.  I enjoy challenging my students to pursue high standards in the artwork, and believe that through this, their creative thought will flourish and carry over into other areas of their lives."
