The Louisville Artists Syndicate is a grassroots network of local visual artists, filmmakers and musicians who gather monthly to display, discuss, and critique artistic projects. The Syndicate was developed by artists, for artists. As a part of LVAA, the group is managed by a steering committee that meets monthly to review and plan social, networking and professional development events for the local artist community. Syndicate events are open to all local and regional artists, but are planned for its artist members. For more information on the Syndicate, visit the groups page on Facebook.

Syndicate membership is open to any local or regional artist working in a visual arts, filmmaking or music and is included as part of membership in LVAA. Annual membership in LVAA is $40 for an individual and $60 for a family. New LVAA members should indicate on their membership form that they are interested in the Syndicate. Existing LVAA member artist should send an email to Kate Levy at katie@louisvillevisualart.org and ask the be added to the Syndicate list.

All events and activities hosted by the Syndicate are planned by volunteers. The Syndicate is currently seeking volunteers to serve on the Louisvile Artist Syndicate Steering Committee and various committees which will meet monthly to review and plan up-coming events. If you are interested in helping as a volunteer or have any idea for a Syndicate event, please send an email to syndicate@louisvilevisualart.org.

The Syndicate, in conjunction with Louisville Visual Art Association, will host “Artist Thursdays” on the third Thursday of each month. This monthly gathering provides a unique opportunity for artists working in a variety of media to display content, perform, share ideas and socialize. Additional events, such as artist critiques, members-only exhibits, professional workshops and other activities events will be planned over the coming months.

---SOUP DEVILLE.....Sun.Mar.11.12pm @ The Water Tower.....This is a funding opportunity for creative people!! If you have a project you have been wanting to complete but lack a little funding, put a proposal together with a description, goal, intended outcome to present at this informal soup dinner for quests to vote on. The proposal with the most votes is awarded the money raised at the dinner! ---BALLS ON BAXTER....Thu.Mar.15.6pm @ Wick's Pizza on Baxter.....This is the next Third Thursday event!! It is skeeball inspired and infused, wacky and ridiculous with some cool Skeeball art. And it's for charity! Wick's will be featuring their famous pizza and beer specials all evening long, the Syndicate and the Skeeball people are teaming up for a local all-star lineup of bands, artists, and some film nerds with random cameras and live feed projected on the wall of the Skeeball action. On February 16, 2012 at 7PM in the historic Louisville Water Tower and with the help of the Louisville Visual Art Association, The Louisville Artists Syndicate is pleased to announce the next edition of Third Thursday: FIRE & ICE

The one-night exhibition features an exhibit of fire and ice-themed works of art by local artists and live performance art that includes a live ice carving competition by some of Louisville’s best sculptors, a dramatic fire spinning presentation by a local Poi troupe and an amazing laser art demonstration.

Third Thursday’s musical guest is Busted Soles, an avant garde, honky tonk rock band.

The Third Thursday event begins promptly at 7:00 pm and a $5 donation at the door covers refreshments and entertainment.

This month The Syndicate has teamed up with Derby City Comic Con (http://www.derbycitycomiccon.com/) to give you a first-hand look into the intricacies behind the creation of illustrative art in the comic book world.

Soup DeVille is an event to be held Nov.20th at the Louisville Water Tower in which visual artists, filmmakers, and musicians may submit project proposals for funding. It will be a buffet style soup dinner costing ten dollars per person. All the money collected will be given as a grant to the winning proposal to be used for their project. During the dinner attendees will vote for which proposal will be funded. The artist of the selected project will receive all the money collected from the dinner. So invite as many as you can to a great soup dinner that will benefit the creatives of Louisville!

All proposals need to be sent to andrewcozzens@gmail.com by Nov 18th. Proposals should include: Name, title of the proposal, and a short paragraph describing your project and its need for funding.

On November 17, 2011 at 7PM in the historic Louisville Water Tower and with the help of the Louisville Visual Art Association, The Louisville Artists Syndicate is pleased to announce the next edition of Third Thursday: KINETICS.

Kinetics: the action of forces in producing or changing the motion of masses. A physical phenomenon that is about motion and movement and how we live with it.

Get out to this next Third Thursday and let the Syndicate get you moving with a kinetic visual art exhibition, multiple film projections and a Dance Party featuring Louisville's own OK DEEJAYS!

The Baryonyx Trio will kick us off at 7PM and the night will move on from there.

The inaugural event kicked off with an amazing crowd of almost 250 people. Our next edition of Third Thursday will be on October 20th. The Louisville Artists Syndicate will be hosting a public lecture by Kentucky School of Art visiting artist, Denise Burge, in collaboration with Kentuckians for the Commonwealth. Denise Burge will speak about her multi-media work that addresses human’s complex relationship with nature, and her own connection to the Appalachian region. Lecture to be followed with music by the Baryonyx Trio, Maiden Radio, and Relic, experimental film projections, environmental art exhibit, local food trucks, bourbon, beer, and much much more!
