Annette Cable has a background in illustration, art education, art outreach and advertising. She received a BFA in Advertising and Illustration from the Columbus College of Art and Design. To date she has illustrated seventeen children’s picture books, including Me on the Map ( a Reading Rainbow Book ), and several books in the Children’s Book of the Month Club. Her clients include the Portland Museum, Riverside the Farnsley-Moremen Landing, Crown Books for Young Readers, KY Monthly, Louisville Magazine, the Presbyterian Church USA and many more. Annette's elementary CFAC classes concentrate on drawing, observation and playing with the already existing artistic talents your students have displayed to gain entrance into the CFAC program. We start out with basics, move on to color, add imagination and creativity and end up with fun and unique art projects.
What do you hope your students take away from your class?
The knowledge that creativity is and can be used in all parts of your life. In solving math problems, science problems, accounting problems, telling stories, communicating, organizing your bedroom, social and environmental concerns and of course art.
What is your favorite thing to teach and why?
I like teaching basic drawing. Teaching students to observe, working their minds and eyes and hands, pushing them forward. Showing them what they can do!
