Anita Fisher holds a BA in Studio Art as well as a MAT in Visual Art K-12 from The University of Louisville. While her background is primarily in painting and printmaking, she enjoys exploring new media such as fiber art. Most of Anita's work is symbolic and I she ofter uses her two rescue dogs as subjects. She has been teaching since 2008 and is currently the art teacher at Portland Elementary School.
What do you hope your students take away from your class?
I want my students to leave my class more confident in their basic art skills. I hope that they will see that the arts can open doors for them that they didn’t know exist and that they can use their art as an outlet of expression and change.
What is your favorite thing to teach and why?
I enjoy teaching everything. Many of my students have had little experience with creating and their energy and excitement when introduced to new materials and processes is contagious.
