Executive Director – Job Description

The Louisville Visual Arts Association ( www.louisvillevisualart.org) a 100- year old organization and a vital player in the growing arts community in Louisville, KY, (http://www.kentuckyarts.org) is seeking an experienced and entrepreneurially minded leader with organizational skills, strategic vision and a passion for and knowledge of the visual arts.  This executive director will provide leadership, organization and management of staff of this vibrant and evolving arts institution. Reporting to and supporting the board of directors, the ED has overall responsibility for leading the centennial campaign; community outreach; marketing and public relations; financial management; fundraising; grant writing; communications; community relations and advocacy; personnel management and oversight of all operations.

The Executive Director will have a proven record of success as an executive director of an arts center or equivalent non-profit institution (or substantial business role with visual arts experience and significant non-profit experience as a board member) and a BA/BS in a related field.  A graduate degree is preferred. The ED must value entrepreneurship, possess a professional demeanor, and have well-developed organizational, management and interpersonal skills, and excellent written communications/computer skills.  Keen public-speaking ability, social ease in successfully projecting the LVAA to the community at large; influence skills, integrity, diplomacy, flexibility, good humor and a hands-on philosophy are essential qualities.  This position offers a base salary of $60,000 along with performance bonus opportunity and benefits.
