Sandy Kimura and Marcia Pitman
Kimura Design
Combining site-specific dimensions and architectural elements, along with her clients’ color schemes, form the basis for Sandy Kimura’s approach to design. Having twenty-three years of experience in the design field, Kimura has been exposed to many other artists and interior designers, drawing influence from her interactions with them. Her work has been presented in the Courier-Journal, Home and Garden Feature, and Kentucky Home and Gardens. She has continually exhibited throughout the years in the Bellarmine Women’s Council Designers’ Show House and has also shown work in the Mint Jubilee Exhibition. Collectors and clients of Kimura include: Nicklies & Co., Jefferson Development, Joe Hensley, Mike Shea, and Kevin Cogan. The Award for Building Design, the Bellarmine Women’s Council Designers’ Show House, and the 2003 Award of Honor for building renovation design at the Associated Builders and Contractors, Inc. are just a few of her many accomplishments in the design field.
Roaming the woods and meadows of rural Kentucky sparked Marcia Pitman’s love of flowers. As a young girl, she spent much of her time outdoors experiencing the magic of picking flowers and planting rock gardens with her friends. Six years ago, Pitman took a class in floral design and began her journey in the design field. Her experience with Occasions, a wedding floral design business, and her own business Two Chicks in a Cottage have given her a well-rounded approach to interior design. Pitman has participated and been featured in Temptations Holiday Boutique and the Locust Grove Gardeners Fair.
