Amy Halko
Dallas, Texas
Amy Halko, a potter living in Dallas, Texas, uses porcelain, slips, and colorful glazes to make her charming utilitarian pottery. A sensuously drawn line describes natural forms while color infuses the design forms with life. Decorated surprises for the user lie on the inside of lids and undersides of pots prompting a lingering exploration of each piece. Each pot is a unique handmade piece designed for the pleasure of daily use. Halco has been teaching ceramics in Dallas for the past five years, most recently at Southern Methodist University. She has an master of fine arts degree from Ohio State University and is from Cleveland, OH.
