With a strong background in fine arts and experience with social issues, Lisa Angell-Heinz sparks creativity and ingenuity in all facets of her professional and pro-bono endeavors.
A recipient of the Rebecca Jennings Memorial Fine Arts Award and a graduate of Indiana University Southeast with a bachelor’s degree in fine arts, Angell-Heinz has blended her artistic talents with a professional career that spans the gamut from advocating for adults with disabilities to revitalizing the Mary Anderson Center.
After a decade of working in the non-profit social services sector and winning the 2001 Imagine Award for Community Leadership, Angell-Heinz got back in touch with her artistic roots and joined DSI Interiors to assist senior designer and owner, Carol Sparkman.
I enjoy working with original art work or an inspiration piece identified by the client. One exceptional piece can dictate the direction of a project and lead to a powerful design concept said Angell-Heinz.
Unique designs that reflect the personality of the space have become a hallmark of Angell-Heinz’s design portfolio. Whether it is a contemporary space or historical architecture, Angell-Heinz allows the space itself to dictate the direction of the project. Some of her more notable projects include: Assisting with the exterior concepts of the historical Reibel House building circa 1886 in New Albany, IN;2001 Best of Show Award at the Home Builders Association of Southern Indiana Home Exposition; and a festive Christmas installation for Gerry Walts, of Jeffersonville, IN featured in the 2004 December issue of Fine Living of Louisville magazine.
With boundless creativity and enthusiasm, Angell-Heinz also enjoys working with charitable organizations to do pro-bono design work and special event planning for such organizations as the American Diabetes Association, Rauch Rehabilitation Services, and Children’s Sexual Assault services. In 2003, she was the recipient of the American Diabetes Commitment Award at the Stand Up Diabetes Gala.
In addition to her interior design career, Angell-Heinz currently works as Executive Director of the Mary Anderson Center.
